National Guard Junior World Championship
August 25, 2010
Congratulations to WVBF Junior anglers Alex Goff and Zach Whitten for representing the WVBF and State of West Virginia
at the 2010 National Guard Junior World Championship on Georgia's Lake Lanier, August 5-8, 2010. The event was
held in conjunction with the prestigious Forrest Wood Cup.
Goff and Whitten qualified for the NGJWC back in May of this year on Sutton Lake where both anglers won their respective
age group in the WVBF Junior State Championship. Alex Goff won the 11-14 age group and Zach Whitten won the 15-18
age group which allowed both anglers to advance to the NGJWC. The WVBF gave each family $1,500 to cover travel
expenses to Lake Lanier, Georgia where once there FLW, National Guard and TBF covered the expenses for the event.
In the tradition of the NGJWC all anglers were treated to the awesome National Guard Pizza Party and an evening
full of games, entertainment and door prizes. Thanks to the National Guard, FLW and TBF the NGJWC is truly a first
class event to which nothing else compares.
Zach Whitten won the 15-18 age group in the Mid-Atlantic Division and received a college scholarship of $2,750
for his efforts. This is the second time Zach has accomplished this feat. Congratulations for a job well done.
