West Virginia Bass Federation wins 2009 Mid-Atlantic Divisional
Championship!!!!
The WVBF won the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Divisional Championship held in Morgantown, WV on the Monongahela River. The
win made two in a row as the WVBF won the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Divisional hosted by Pennsylvania on Lake Erie.
West Virginia had an excellent team which consisted of several good river fishermen. The 2009 team was qualified
on the Kanawha River last October. The entire team of Steve Harrison, Lester Marsh, Josh Ankrom, Willie Adkins,
Kevin McClain, Robby Fleshman, Mick Goodwin, Hanns vonSchmidt, Greg Perry, Dan Holdren, Rob Cline and Mark Knotts
weighed in fish which was a key to the win. Although close through the first two days of the tournament, the WVBF
came on the last day to win by more than nine pounds.
WVBF team member Robby Fleshman won individual honors as the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Divisional Champion with a total
weight of thirteen pounds even. Robby will represent the WVBF at the 2010 TBF National Championship in Knoxville,
TN next April. Hopefully the WVBF will have a repeat there as well, WVBF member Bob Harkness won the 2009 TBFF
National Championship in Branson, MO.
Finishing second on the WVBF team in Morgantown earned Willie Adkins a berth in the 2010 TBF National Championship
as the co-angler. Both Fleshman and Adkins can qualify for the 2010 one million dollar BFL All-American and the
2010 two million dollar Forrest Wood Cup if they do well at the National Championship.
It was a great week for the WVBF and an honor to host the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Divisional Championship. The week
started on Saturday with teams from seven federations arriving at the Ramada Inn and Convention Center in Morgantown.
The teams had official practice days on Sunday thru Tuesday. The WVBF sponsored an awesome barbeque catered by
Russ's Ribs at Dorsey's Knob Park on Monday evening. Tuesday evening was the banquet sponsored by FLW at the Ramada,
tournament rules briefing and parings. The official tournament days were Wednesday thru Friday during which the
WVBF team accumulated a total weight of 76 pounds and 15 ounces for the victory.
