Kanawha River

"Boy, this river is tough right now!" That was a comment heard numerous times at the weigh-in following Sunday's WVBF Buddy Trail tournament on the Kanawha River. A field of 87 teams fished for nine hours and weighed in only 75 bass with a total weight of 97-11.

As the tournament played out Sunday, Kevin Martin and partner Greg Engle would catch a 6-fish limit weighing 11-05 anchored by a 2-08 big fish to win the third event of the season and collect the $2,055 first place prize.

The team of Kevin and Mike Goff finished in second with 7-00 anchored by a 3-07 smallmouth caught in the waning minutes of the tournament and garnered the team big fish honors. Taylor-Thompson finished third with 5-15. Holstein-Payne finished fourth with 4-01 and rounding out the top five was Dillon-Hall with 4-01 (big fish was the tie-breaker).

The next stop on the WVBF Buddy Trail is the Ohio River at Ravenswood June 5th.
