FEDERATION MEETING NOTES
August 6, 2000
• Locations for the upcoming qualifier tournaments have been finalized.
NORTHERN QUALIFIER will be September 16-17 on the Ohio River, Moundsville Ramp. MANDATORY pre-tournament
meeting September 15, 8:00pm Mound Museum in Moundsville.
CENTRAL QUALIFIER will be October 7-8 Kanawha River at the SAINT ALBANS RAMP. MANDATORY pre-tournament meeting
will be October 6th at the Day's Inn near the ramp 8:00pm.
SOUTHERN QUALIFIER will be October 14-15 Kanawha River at SAINT ALBANS RAMP. MANDATORY pre-tournament meeting
will be October 13th; 8:00 at Day's Inn near the ramp.
• There had been some discussion of launching the Central and Southern Qualifiers from the C&P Ramp. However,
fears that workers there may be on strike prompted the board to decide on the Saint Albans location instead. The
nearby Day's Inn has good parking and will serve as tournament headquarters.
• Anglers fishing the qualifier tournaments are encouraged to check your equipment before the tournament. Make
sure all batteries are charged, trolling motors are in good working order, gas tanks are filled, livewells are
working, and check all other equipment. It's unfair to your partner to lose because of your poor preparation or
equipment.
• A reminder, waters of the qualifier are off limits starting the Monday before the tournament for participants.
• A reminder, the Top Six fishermen from each club must have a roster in to President John Burdette a week before
the qualifier. Rosters must be mailed or faxed, NO PHONE CALLS. A copy of the official registration form is included
in the last newsletter.
• NOMINEES FOR THE THREE GENERAL BOARD SEATS UP FOR ELECTION:
- John Burdette, BCW Bassmasters
- Greg Henline, Central WV Bassmasters
- Mike Gillespie, Northern Mountaineer Bassmasters
- Bert Nolan, Northern Mountaineer Bassmasters
Votes will be cast at the November 5th meeting. Each club will be able to vote for three of the four nominees.
Terms will be held for three years.
• REVISED DRAFT OF THE FEDERATION BYLAWS IS COMPLETE
The revisions require a 2/3rds majority of the board and a majority vote of the membership to be official.
The biggest change is a mandatory attendance at the November meeting by a representative of each club. Clubs are
required to have a representative at two of the four meetings throughout the year. Enforcement of this rule will
be left to the discretion of the board.
• NOVEMBER 5TH MEETING
The November meeting is probably the most important of the year. All WVBF members are encouraged to attend. The
meeting will be at 11:00am at Braxton County Middle School in Flatwoods.
Agenda will include voting on three General Board seats along with selection of next year's Qualifier and State
Tournament sights.
It's the Northern Division's year to select the State Tournament sight.
• BERKLEY AWARDS
Anglers fishing the Qualifiers and State Tournaments are reminded that Berkley will give $1,000 to the State Tournament
winner and $100 to the winner of the qualifier if that person purchased a pack of Berkeley Fireline prior to the
tournament date. You MUST have the register receipt proving the date of purchase to qualify. See President John
Burdette for more details.
• CASTING KIDS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
WVBF Youth Director Sarge Travis is requesting volunteers to help with all Casting Kids events. This weekend will
be an event at the State Fair in Lewisburg. September 9th will be a huge event at the state Boy Scout camp at Jackson's
Mill near Jane Lew. 400 Boy Scouts will be participating and all help will be greatly appreciated. Contact Sarge
Travis to help.
